The Wheel was a critical project curated by Sean O'Sulllivan, that took place throughout the Spring of 2011. It was formed as an invited reading and discussion group, which would provide a documentary outlet for selected emerging critics. The group debated the notion of an ethics surrounding failure, and each writer was asked to reply to the discussions with either an essay or a recorded exchange. The final document is fully illustrated, and features new texts by Imelda Barnard, Sean O Sullivan, Adrian Duncan and Marta Fernandez Calvo, Rebecca O'Dwyer and Emma Dwyer.
The Wheel was supported by Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, and was completed under the IADT MA in Visual Arts Practice Curatorial Programme. Its launch took place at the third A and E, in Monster Truck, with panel discussion including Tim Stott, James Merrigan, Niamh Dunphy and was chaired by Kevin Atherton.
The images relate to a heat sculpture made in response to a section of the text that Marta and I contributed to titled FAIL LURE.
